VISION

The purpose of the Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship For Design In The Performing Arts (”The Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship”) is to:

  • Create an on-going memorial to the career of the late Kristian Fredrikson;
  • Perpetuate the memory of his involvement in developing excellence in design for the performing arts;
  • Provide career development opportunities to designers for the performing arts and the makers —craftspersons, technicians and specialists — who realise their vision;
  • Create an opportunity to allow others to invest in the future of Australian design for the performing arts;
  • Raise the profile of Australian design for the performing arts and its realisation in productions and performance.

THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship will provide a minimum of $12,000 biennially (increased by CPI) to assist an Australian designer for the performing arts or a maker (a craftsperson, technician or specialist working in the performing arts to realise the designer’s vision) to study overseas, to further enhance their career.

Should the recipient reside interstate a return economy air fare will be provided in order for them to attend the award presentation in Victoria.

The Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship will be financed through the Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship For Design In The Performing Arts Fund (”The Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship Fund”), which will comprise of a sum of money, totalling a minimum of $120,000, to be established through a range of fundraising activities, including tax deductible donations.
